The Geek Lyfe Tackles E3 2018!

E3

E3 is one of the best times of the year for gamers all around the world because we get a sneak peak at all of the games to come. Major brands like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft gather together for a week of solid promotion, both streamed and in person. This year was no different as we got to see some fantastic game trailers! So many in fact that we could not list all of them in this article.

Still, we wanted to mention some of our favorites!

First off: Kingdom Hearts 3. Like many geeks who grew up in the 2000s, I loved playing as Sora and fighting for my friends time and time again. When I first heard about Kingdom Hearts, getting to listen to Utada Hikaru‘s latest song and watch the new trailer felt like a godsend.

Fallout 76 surprised many of us as fans had no idea Bethesda would be announcing a new title this year. The Fallout franchise has focused on letting you experience a post apocalyptic world that takes place in an alternate earth where the culture of America stopped in the ’40s. Although the news of the game itself was shocking, they made it even more so as they mentioned that the game would be entirely online and multiplayer. Yes, you can play by yourself, but you’ll still be able to see other players around you in the world.

Another great aspect of E3 was Nintendo’s segments that stole the entire show. We watched major title after major title get announced. Obviously, the title many of us screamed at the top of our lungs for was Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. A game where a number of popular Nintendo characters are thrust into a single fighting games filled of unique arenas and access to ridiculous items. Finding out that it’ll not only include new characters but also featured every single playable fighter since day one blew our minds.

Resident Evil 2 was beloved by many back in the day with its gruesome horror and heart racing action. The game no doubt inspired a number of other works of horror content down the line, but now we get to revisit Raccoon City on that fateful night  again, but this time with improved graphics! Never played the original? Resident Evil 2 focuses on Leon Kennedy whose first day on the job includes fighting for his life from a town overrun with zombies.

The Last of Us 2 brought back emotions that had been buried for so long. In a world devastated with a plague that wipes out a majority of human kind, a man who has lost everything, Joel, looks after his young friend, Ellie as they find the a cure to her sickness. At least that was the plot to the first game, but this next game is a mystery to many! Now we get to feel all of the feels again thanks to Naughty Dog who have been working hard to bring the best product possible to fans. Many gamers hailed the first game as a pure masterpiece so we can not wait to see what this sequel holds!

We had our homie Roguesiren check on the expo and she had a huge blast all weekend long! This was a brief overview of the experience and information. We are so excited to get to check it out all of the great games coming later this year and in 2019!
