Review: SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque 2017

If you enjoy beautiful women, pop culture, seductive dances, and have never attended a SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque show, you are missing out big time. First and foremost, SuicideGirls
are a group of girls who fight against the social norms of beauty standards by embracing the beauty of wild hair colors, tattoos, and pierces all while posing naked for photos. We actually interviewed Missy Suicide twice regarding SuicideGirls which you can check out here and here!

Blackheart Burlesque is a burlesque show that they put on annually around the world featuring various SuicideGirls. Their acts are saturated in themes for a number of pop culture genres from anime to Star Wars to beloved shows like Fresh prince of Bel Air! After watching their show twice now, I am convinced they can make anything sexy. But the show isn’t just about beautiful women taking off their clothes(okay, maybe it is.), it is also about finding new ways to entice the audience with costumes, dance techniques, and reading the crowd.

The venue for Phoenix, Arizona was the Pressroom located in downtown Phoenix. The Pressroom is a great establishment where you can enjoy drinks, watch the show, and get any help you need from the various staff members that monitor the event. I saw various members of security constantly check for any issues and helped resolve them so the majority of attendees would continue to have a great time. The price of the event at base was $25 for standing room but you could pay up to $125 if you wanted to have VIP status and front row seating and even more if you wanted a special meet and greet!

The performances featured SuicideGirls such as Sunny Suicide, Lyric Suicide, Katherine Suicide, and so many more! While all of their performances were fantastic from the themes to the dancing to the lighting, there were a few routines that stood above the rest. The 50 shades of grey was without a doubt the most sexy of the routines as it featured three girls in only submissive leather strappings and blindfolded while Katherine Suicide made her way to them and commanded them every which way until they overcame her. While this is a routine that has happened in previous years, it still has quite the impact. Other great ones were their Game of Thrones which featured the Mother of Dragons and her dragons go back and both for control and the other would have to be their Donnie Darko skit. You don’t know what uncomfortable is until you watch the creepy bunny suit come on stage and in a matter of minutes a beautiful woman emerges which leaves the audience both confused yet aroused at the same time.

While their regular dances are enjoyable, I look forward to their skits that feature audience members! Yes, if you attend a Blackheart Burlesque show, there is a chance that you become a part of the show as they took a couple on stage and had the guy compete against Lyric suicide’s professional lap dance techniques. Another great skit was a challenge featuring a guy who would come on stage and all he had to do was comprehend a third grade story on a piece of paper meanwhile Sunny Suicide did everything in her power to distract him. At the end of the dance the guy was quizzed and ultimately failed to comprehend anything about the story, can we really blame him though, but the audience decided whether or not he received the incredible prize of a year long subscription to SuicideGirls.com! Lastly, they featured women from the audience to come up on stage and entertain the crowd with the reward of various goodies to the victor!

I have to say that this year’s Blackheart Burlesque performance was better than what I witnessed in 2015. While the 2015 performance was incredible, they some how were able to improve the quality of the show overall. The performers of this show and last were great but there was an aspect that just enhanced everything overall which could have been the music, lighting, organization or maybe a mix of everything while still maintaining the same price point. I can not recommend this show enough, it was a fun experience that involved beautiful women, beer, great music, and so much more!
