Good Guy Blizzard
If you are a geek then chances are, you have heard of Blizzard Entertainment. If you know them, then you either love them or hate them depending on which franchise you play. Recently, they have been working on their newest IP, Overwatch, and actually launches today! The game is fantastic, no doubt a hit that’ll be loved and cherished by many. However, we’re not here to talk about Overwatch. We’re here to talk about Blizzard.
A fan by the name of Shane Brown sent in a letter to Blizzard, it’s contents filled with puns relating to Overwatch. He never thought he would get a reply, maybe a simple auto response at most, he merely took pride in the fact that he made punny jokes.
And then he received a reply a week later.
“Okay guys, I have a very very special story to share with you all. I played this game called “Overwatch”, if you don’t know what that is then you can look it up, but if you do then prepare yourself for this one. So I sent in the most cheesy letter I have ever written in my entire life (which was completely loaded with puns) to a couple of blizzard locations on the west coast (more than one because I wasn’t expecting a response) and they responded to me with expedited mail. Inside was a letter, 3 comics (one for Bjorn, Natalie and I) and a coaster. Blizzard now has a very special place in my heart for being so thoughtful and generous to their community.
The letter I wrote and the letter they wrote will be attached as pictures below, as well as pictures of the comics and stuff.
Note: this isn’t some sort of bragging post, I just really want you guys to know how much I think Blizzard cares about their community.”
Folks might complain about Blizzard and how they handle World of Warcraft, Diablo, or Starcraft but you have to give credit where it’s due, their customer service and community managers go above and beyond to ensure their fans are appreciated! I was completely blown away by their response not only being a personal letter but also a few comics and a patch. I thought others might enjoying hearing the news that Blizzard still cares in their own little way.
