Double Clicks At Imperial Outpost
Imperial Outpost has to be my all time favorite gaming store. I have been to many stores for war gaming supplies and RPG miniatures in the past but none of them every had quite the spirit of
Imperial Outpost Games. Their staff, owner, and community are just spectacular in so many ways. As if they weren’t amazing enough already, they host a band by the name of The Double Clicks every year while they are on tour.
I unfortunately missed The Double Clicks multiple times due to scheduling conflicts but I swore on everything that this was going to be the year that I see them live! If you are unfamiliar with the Double Click, they are a Comedy-Music duo who sing songs about every day life, like being at a party and only wanting to interact with the cat, or even a president who is a snake! I’ve seen their videos far too many times and have yet to tire of their abundance of wit and charm.
I had no idea what I would encounter seeing them live, and after attending, I knew i would never have guessed correctly. To begin, Angela Webber and Aubrey Webber are pure delights both on and off the stage. Standing in front of a room packed with their fans they performed song after song with enthusiasm and encouraged the audience to participate by roaring like a dinosaur! I arrived about 20 minutes late and apparently a rule had been established by the crowd, that when ever Angela or Aubrey said the word ‘Science’ the crowd would repeat it back at them. The entire night was filled with these fun and light-hearted events as The Double Clicks played fantastic songs.
Furthermore, during their two set performance, a number of instruments were played including: Keyboard, Ukulele, Guitar and Cello. Angela took the lion’s share of singing, which she did wonderfully, while Aubrey entertained the crowd with her expressions and responses to questions, and even got into a banana suit to dance during a song! A friend of theirs came in and sang with Angela and did some random juggling. Despite their music being silly and filled with comedy, the talent of these two women is nothing to laugh about! You can tell they take their craft seriously and it shows on stage.
The crowd absolutely loved the Double Clicks as they hurried to purchase as much merchandise they could, while some even went as far as to make a ton of cookies for fellow fans. The interaction between The Double Clicks and fans off stage was magical as they conversed with one another with ease. You can tell that Angela and Aubrey Webber are genuine and kind hearted people, you simply can’t fake the way their eyes light up while speaking with fans who came out to see their show.
After the show had ended they thanked everyone for coming and made time to take photos or listen to attendees for a good amount of time, even allowing them to hold their prized cat keyboard! I was honestly blown away by their performance and all the waiting was well worth it. It’s a crime to think that the show was technically free but had a suggested donation of $10 since I would have gladly paid even double that to enjoy a gig by The Double Clicks again! Â We have to seriously take a moment to thank the incredible Darren, owner of Imperial Outpost Games for organizing the event for the enjoyment of his customers!
