A Fond Farewell to Deegan Marie!
They say that all good things must come to an end eventually. That is exactly how we feel today as we announce that Deegan Marie of Deegan Marie Photography has resigned from her position as Chief Photographer for The Geek Lyfe. Between her day job, cosplaying, and freelance jobs, she found her time to be too strained to accommodate the workload with us in that mix. While we are sad to see her go, we are so excited to see what fantastic content she’ll produce with the time and focus she now has!
We wanted to highlight some of her many accomplishments while she wore black and green!
When faced with what was the biggest interview of our brand, Deegan stepped up to not only help record the interview, but also took photos of international icon Lady Beard at Saboten Con!
In 2017, Deegan participated as a photographer during the event, but in 2018 she had a heavy hand in planning and execution of the event. She helped organize potential photo shoot ideas, communicate with fellow photographers, and helped clients with any questions both before and during the event!
Deegan helped manage and plan our first ever Horror Cosplay photo shoot that took place at Fear Farm back in 2017! She helped communicate with clients, other photographers, and ensured things ran smoothly on site of the event.
Anime Expo 2018 Craftsmanship Spotlight
Deegan created and managed a project at Anime Expo to highlight the craftsmanship of various cosplayers during the weekend. She not only took photos of their costumes but also took the time to interview them on them and their hard work!
Here’s a few of the on-camera interviews she did for us!
Interview with Hendo Art
Interview with ElfyAubrie
A message from Darth Mexican
Deegan Marie first joined the brand in early 2016 to assist with Amazing Arizona Comic Con. Since that event, she had grow the brand tremendously from interviews, articles, photos, and more. Her insight, experience, hard work, and dedication was so incredible that it was hard to ever ignore. It would motivate me to step up and double my own effort in order to just keep pace! Whenever times came to a low, she would remind myself and the team that we are more than what the community sees of us.
When conflicts came down the pipeline, she’d stand stalwart and weather the storms, tackling projects back to back until better days came through. My heart is heavy to watch a champion of the brand have to leave the team, but I am glad she chose the path she knew was best for her professionally. I make a promise to every one of my staff that the exchange is that we help one another grow and this rings especially true with Deegan.
I am so proud of how much Deegan has grown since I first met her, both in terms of photography and cosplay! If you are interested in a quality photographer, then look no further than her!
Here are some of my personal favorite times with her on the team!
Be sure to follow her on Facebook, Instagram, and check out her website for all of the wonderful content she’ll no doubt produce!
