Cosplay Interview: Chris Burton
I have a huge love for every aspect of cosplay from the concept stage to the final convention day when they get to show off their fresh costumes to the world. I had the idea to reach out to my favorite cosplayers and interview them to get a better understanding of who they are as a person and why they love cosplay. It went wonderful and our readers loved reading their answers to our humble questions. However, I noticed that there was a vast sea of indie cosplayers who no one ever bothered to check out, yet these same indie cosplayers made fantastic cosplays! So I took it upon myself to hunt down as many indie cosplayers as I could and interview them for the enjoyment of our readers and the promotion for these wonderful cosplayers!
Without further ado, here is our interview with Chris Burton!
The Geek Lyfe: Although I am a fan of yours, there may be a few readers who have not seen your work before, would you be alright introducing yourself? Could you tell us how you got into cosplay and what led you to where you are now?
My name is Chris Burton and I got into cosplay after watching the first season of Arrow on television, I then started to get involved in the charity aspect of cosplay with various groups, justice
league Arizona, Arizona avengers, heroes united AZ, and finally a founder of my own organization Heroes and Villains of tomorrow.
TGS: When you aren’t doing awesome cosplays, what do you do?
When I am not in cosplay I am either working on props for cosplay or focusing on my job as a package handler for fed ex.
TGS: What geek medium (Video Games, Cosplay, books, movies, etc.) would you say has impacted the most and why?
My favorite moment in my cosplay career will be on Valentine’s Day 2016, I don’t want to let the surprise slip but it involves the love of my life.
I am a very big comic book reader. Between DC, and marvel, my favorites include Grifter, Deadpool, JLA, green arrow, green lantern, love the TV series Arrow, the Flash and Supergirl.
TGS: What has been your favorite moment in your cosplay career?
The amazing people I’ve met and the adventures I’ve had while becoming a Cosplayer.
TGS: You receive the powers of one of your former cosplays, which power do you take on and will it be enough to take on Marvel’s Thor?
Deadpool’s regenerative healing power, may not be enough to take on Thor but it would be fun to see.
TGS: Do you have any projects in the near future that we’d be excited to see?
A few future cosplays I have planned are New 52 Green Lantern, the Flash and Zoom from the TV series the Flash and Dr. Doom.
TGS: What advice do you have for any aspiring cosplayers out there?
My advice for aspiring cosplayers is to just be yourself, have fun no matter what.
A huge thank you to Chris Burton for taking the time to answer a few of our questions!
