Cosplayer of the Week: Pixelatediary Cosplay

Hey everyone! We have a fantastic cosplayer for you this week! Her name is Pixelated diary Cosplay! She is super kawaii and has some pretty dope cosplays! I hope you enjoy our interview with her!

The Geek Lyfe: There may be a few Geek Lyfers who have not seen your work before, would you be alright introducing yourself?

Pixelateddiary Cosplay: Of course! My names Jinhee, but my gamer/cosplayer name is Pixelatediary or Pixel for short.

TGL: How long have you been into cosplay and what led you down this path?

PDC: I started at Phoenix Comicon 2014 (my first con ever) showing off my Little Sister from Bioshock and Link from A Legend of Zelda

TGL: What has been your favorite moment?

PDC: My favorite moments are when others can recognize what I am and fangirl with me. Along with meeting new people, but that started more at Saboten Con of last year.

TGL: What was the worst day for you in your cosplay career, what happened, and how did you deal with it?

PDC: I don’t think I really had a worst day when cosplaying, but you occasionally get those really creepy people you just run away from lol. I guess the worst thing that happens is when you have a cosplay malfunction or procrastinate before cons which every cosplayer knows what I’m talking about haha

TGL: When you aren’t doing this, what do you do in your spare time?

PDC: On my spare time I just play video games and stream on twitch (@pixelatediary) or watch anime while cuddling with my 3 dogs. I also have a full time job along with attending college, wooooo *wipes sweat off forehead*

TGL: What geek medium(Video Games, Comic Books, Novels, Movies etc.) made the biggest impact on your life and why?

PDC: I believe anime and video games are a big part of my life. It was hard being a military brat while constantly being moved to different cities and countries, but games and watching anime was always with me. Plus when I moved into a new location, meeting new people who shared the same interest became super easy to bond with.

TGL: If you could bring a single Pokemon to the real world to be your best friend which one would it be?

PDC: Oooo a pokemon to bring into the real world… well I my top favorite pokemon would be Pikachu, Charzard, and Gengar… but they might be a pain to take care of, remember Ash and Charzard? Lol. Hmmm I would love to have a Sylveon or Pikachu.

TGL: Do you have any projects in the near future we should be excited to see?

PDC: Well I already have D.va from Overwatch and Krul Tepes from Owari No Seraph for an upcoming convention, Conichiwa. But I’m trying to make Blake from RWBY possible, just need to be healthy and work out. I also want to cosplay cinematic Ahri from League of Legends since I already have her tails.

TGL: Out of the costumes you have done in the past, which one has been the most difficult and why?

PDC: I did Link, Little Sister, Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail, Super Sonico, Casual D.va, Kikyo from Inuyasha, Harley Quinn from Arkham City, and Psylocke. But wait it’s not over yet, from League of Legends I cosplayed Dynasty Ahri, Debonair Ezreal, Nurse Akali, and Final Boss Veigar. I might have left some out, but that’s what I’ve done so far. My hardest cosplay would definitely be Final Boss Veigar since it was the first time I ever used worbla, insulation foam, and lights. A lot of people who didn’t even know was I was cosplaying were loving my staff. The inspiration for the cosplay was from Jessica Nigri’s normal Veigar which I loved ❤

TGL: What advice do you have for any aspiring cosplayers out there?

PDC: Any aspiring cosplayers out there, be patient on making your costume. You’re going to mess up, but you’re not a failure, everyone has dealt with it. But you’re going to get better as you practice more and more, it’s the same with me haha. Also don’t ever use hot glue, especially if you live in places like Arizona. It’s going to melt, you don’t want to be in a shoot and stuff just melts off of you. Last but not least, make some friends! You’d be surprised if you just try and start a small conversation with someone. Like…YOU CAN BE MY FRIEND!

We want to give a huge shout out to Pixelateddiary Cosplay for taking the time to answer our humble questions! Be sure to follow her for so many other shenanigans! https://www.facebook.com/Pixelatediary/
