I’m confident that at this point we can all agree that Netflix’s Daredevil was incredible. From likable characters, surprising twists, entertaining fight scenes and getting to see inside the mind of the antagonist are a few aspects that made the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen really shine. As expected, Daredevil is getting a second season and here is the information we found so far.
The very lovely Rosario Dawson will return as Claire Temple in the second season.
“After working with Rosario in the first season, we knew instantly that we had to have her back for our second,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb in a statement from Marvel. “Claire Temple proved a fan favorite in Season 1, and we can’t wait for fans to see all the plans we have for her next.”
One surprising note about Dawson’s character is that in the deal she is to appear in any of the Marvel Netflix series. With Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Punisher on the horizon it looks like this medic will have her hands full.
Potential New Characters
“Based on the show we’ve created, which is very grounded in reality, I’d like to see Punisher maybe show up, a little bit of Elektra maybe. I wouldn’t mind Black Widow making an appearance, and you can’t think about Daredevil for too long without thinking of Bullseye. I don’t know when or if or how that would happen, but it’d be cool if it did.”
We’ve already heard that interactions between college Nelson and Murdock as they spoke about how Matt took up Spanish in an attempt to “Impress that greek girl” and who can forget that sharpshooter who had a playing card leaned up next to the rest of his stuff, smells like Bullseye to me. Having a Daredevil/Punisher combo just plain needs to happen, it’s way too great not to do.
Daredevil Season 2 Production
A few changes happening in the upper management portion for Daredevil season 2, Steven S. DeKnight will not return for season 2. However, Doug Petire, known for American Horror Story, and Marco Ramirez, known of Sons of Anarchy, will take the reigns. Thankfully Jeph Loeb will also be returning as an executive producer.
“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season,” DeKnight said in a statement, “I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”
So far rumor has it that Daredevil will make it’s return to Netflix in 2016, along with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen will be AKA Jessica Jones before 2015 comes to an end and Luke Cage will arrive in 2016. No information has been presented currently for Iron Fist nor The Defenders.
