E3: Ubisoft
Ubisoft has taken hits in the past from Assassin’s Creed Unity’s many many bugs to Uplay being a frustrating program that requires you to play certain games on. Personally, I don’t have much against Ubisoft, they are just another dog in the fight that is filled with other dogs who have had equally big screw ups. But that all is the past so let us focus on the present!
Stick of Truth: The Fractured But Whole
Yes! This was actually a big surprise for me since the creators of South Park have stated time and again that they were never doing a video game again. Then they stroll onto stage announcing this gem. Although Stick of Truth was short, it was enjoyable and held a ton of great laughs. This next game seems to be focused around the Superhero genre bringing back the ‘New Kid’ or ‘Douchebag’ as they referred to you. No news on a release date but it is available for pre order.
For Honor
Another surprise from Ubisoft was For Honor, a game where you can play as either a Viking, Templar or Samurai in a battlefield. From both the trailer and game play alone, it seemed as though this game features a robust melee combat system including various sword techniques to both parry and attack. No other news on if there is a storyline, meant for giant battle or mostly for small skirmishes but we do know there is multiplayer and the battles look fantastic. No news on a release date.
Trails Fusion Awesome Level Max
I believe the trailer speaks for itself on this one. Available July 14th.
Tom Clancy’s The Division
The is the game I am most excited for, in The Division you play during a government fallout. The country is in the midst of anarchy and everyone must fend for themselves in order to survive. I chose to link this video rather than the trailer because I feel it gives you a much more accurate feel for the game. Said to be released March 8th 2016.
Anno 2205
I did not have too much information on this game other than it is a city builder that allows you to expand beyond Earth. Set to be released November 3rd 2015.
Rainbow Six Siege
What can compete with Kevin Spacey in Modern Warfare? Angela Bassett. In the latest Rainbow Six game you build a team of elite soldiers and work towards eliminating terrorist organizations.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
There is no doubt that Assassin’s Creed is Ubisoft’s flagship franchise. Many games have been created for the series and all of them…well…most of them have been loved by fans. After their horrible backlash from Unity, they have arrived with Syndicate. In this new game, you have the option to play as either a male or female, knocking out one of the major points of concern by fans who have yearned for a playable female character for some time now. It is set in the industrial revolution in an area drenched in corruption, you assemble other individuals who are tired of the trouble and work to starting your own revolution to change things. Set for release on October 23rd, 2015.
Ghost Recon Wild Lands
*sigh* A game about elite soldiers taking out a Mexican cartel. I expect this to be a game that receives a lot of backlash as it’s main focus is killing Mexicans. Granted, they are from the cartel so they are not good guys but the game would have had a much bigger impact had the good guys been native Mexicans instead of mostly Caucasian males. Hopefully this does not turn into another Call of Juarez: The Cartel.
Overall, I think Ubisoft was really strong this year. I expected to only be excited for AC: Syndicate but there are quite a few games I am genuinely excited for.
