News: Fallout 4 DLC Announcements

When Bethesda released Fallout 4 back in November, I knew right away that most of the time that my family, friends, and loved ones would quickly diminish into long, sweaty evenings on the couch, covered in chip crumbs and wishing to be nowhere else.  This, my friends, was indeed my reality.  And, in some instances, still is.  And here we are, mid-February, and I still have not found my poor lost son (spoiler!).  So, what better time than now, to talk about all the sweet new DLC that Bethesda announced Tuesday (2/16/16), that I’ll also be throwing myself into, without abandon?

On February 16th, Bethesda finally released the dates that DLC will be dropping, across all platforms.  And, boy it’s a doozy.  Not one, but three confirmed releases, scheduled from March 2016 until May 2016.  These include Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, and Far Harbor.  They mention that there will be more to come, but the details on any remaining DLC is still to come.  So, let’s take a look at what they will be serving up thisFO4_Add-On_Pack_v8-auto_1000 spring.

Automatron

Price: $9.99 USD | £7.99 GBP | $16.95 AUD

Release Date: March 2016

Do you like robots? Have you ever wanted to build your own bot to do battle with you, or just keep you company while you scavenge the Wasteland for every piece of junk you can find for your Settlement?  Well, then this is going to be the DLC of your dreams, and it looks fantastic!  Here is how they describe the content:

“The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!”

It’s time for Battlebots, ladies and gentlemen!

Wasteland Workshop

FO4_Add-On_Pack_wasteland_workshop_1000Price: $4.99 USD | £3.99 GBP | $7.95 AUD

Release Date: April 2016

The Wasteland Workshop is looking to be another fun DLC, with plenty of additions to how you interact with the denizens of the Commonwealth.  This actually sounds like a Fallout take on the classic Pokemon game, as it’s described as:

“With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixie tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more!”

And, as you read at the end of their statement, they are also including a multitude of additions for building your Settlements!

Far Harbor

Price: $24.99 USD | £19.99 GBP | $35.95 AUD

Release Date: May 2016

So, Far Harbor is shaping up to be the largest of the DLC releases that Bethesda announced.  This will be the more standard one, including new armor, environments, enemies, weapons, and more.  Check out what they had to say about Far Harbor:

“A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. The choices are all yours.”

With all of this great news about the upcoming DLC, Bethesda also took the time to clear up a couple other things.  They’ve explained that, as mentioned in the beginning, there will be more DLC.  More than $60 worth of DLC, in fact.  This brings us to the new Season Pass model.  Given the expanded plan for their DLC and where it will be heading, they’ve made the decision to increase their Season Pass from the current $29.99 to $49.99 (£24.99 to £39.99 GBP; $49.95 to $79.95 AUD) on March 1, 2016.  But, this isn’t all bad news.  If you were one of the many that happened to purchase your Season Pass previously, then nothing changes.  This means that if you purchase the Season Pass before March 1st, you will truly receive a smoking deal!  It’s just their way of saying thanks to all of their loyal fans who have believed in and supported them over the years.

That’s not all!  Do you want a chance to play these add-ons early?  You got it, because Bethesda is actually running closed betas for each separate DLC for console and PC.  You can sign up now on Bethesda.net, you’ll just need to have a registered Bethesda.net account with them.  Also, beyond add-ons, they stated that they will, indeed, continue to offer free updates to the game, including new features like the recent weapon debris for PC, and increased draw distances for consoles *jumps for joy*, as well as more optimizations to game play and quests.  And, let’s not forget the major overhaul to Survival Mode that is coming down the pipe, changing the game with food, sleep, diseases, danger and more that you will need to be on the lookout for to…survive.   And then there’s the Creation Kit!

So, if you’re a Fallout fan, you can definitely count on having a few more sick days called in, in your near future.  I cannot wait!  See you in the Wasteland, Vault Dwellers!
