Geek Lyfe Spotlight: Powerforce
Tony AKA Powerforce is the master of playing Fox on Super Smash Bros, he loves him some JRPGs and can not get enough of indie games. Rumor has it that he is actually creating his own game! He is a solid guy in real life and will slit your throat in a table top RPG. Great guy! Loves dogs!
Powerforce and I, Darth Mexican, have actually known each other since the 4th grade. Back in the day we were bright eyed geeks who were in love with Harry Potter, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, Final Fantasy, and so many other games. I wasn’t the most wealthy growing up and almost never had the latest games, Powerforce was always generous enough to invite me over to hang out and we quickly became best friends all the way through highschool. We’d always give one another pep talks when we got rejected by women or were stood up at school dances then said screw it and went straight to our local cyber cafe and played Warcraft 3 until the hurt faded.
Despite being so close, we always had different skill sets and aspirations. He was far more outgoing and had a talent for making you laugh so hard that your face would hurt from smiling too much. I was more introverted and always plotting how to bridge the gap between who we were and who we wanted to be. We each helped one another out in various ways from deciding how to handle a situation to talking to women. We were a great team!
As life always happens, after highschool we drifted apart and for a good six years or so we went in two different paths before meeting up and catching up. I found that he was still hilarious and out going and I remained forever the one to think five steps ahead. When I saw that he still kept his love for all things geeky, it was a no brainer that I bring him on board to help out. He immediately accepted and began pumping out video game reviews left and right. When I needed help with our World of Warcraft guild, Powerforce was there by my side without hesitation and gave it his all. When we covered Phoenix Comicon, he bought a ticket and helped gather interviews and connections to various events. I never even asked him to do any of this yet he went above and beyond to try to make Geek Lyfe grow. He has even volunteered to help with Youtube videos regarding unboxing for Lootcrate and despite having low quality equipment, he still charged ahead and had a great time.
I know I’ve already said this in the beginning of the article but I owe the world to Powerforce for every thing he has done to help me throughout my life. He has been there for my worst moments to the best moments, always offering his hand for assistance and maintaining his positive attitude regarding all things. There are a lot of memories, maybe too many, that would have ended poorly without him. I’m glad I can at least repay him in some small way by bringing him on board to one day hopefully see our humble, little blog grow into something that we can focus all of our resources on and see a return.
Until then, all I can do is keep pushing forward with all my might!
