Review: Geek Wedding – The Sequel

Review: Geek Wedding – The Sequel

If there is on aspect of life that I love as much as food, it would have to be good music. When you combine my love for everything geeky with good music Vitamin String Quartet is typically involved! Vitamin String Quartet released Geek Wedding in 2015 which combined classical music with various geeky songs such as ‘Still Alive’ from Portal and ‘Dearly Beloved’ from Kingdom hearts makes the songs even more amazing than they originally were.

Who are Vitamin String Quartet?

“It all started back in 1999 with a curious album idea: What if a string section performed Zeppelin’s greatest hits?

Sixteen years and countless records later, that simple formula has become the blueprint for Vitamin String Quartet, widely regarded as the source for innovative string renditions of popular music.

But it doesn’t stop there. Along with an ever-expanding catalog of carefully curated studio recordings, the VSQ imprint encompasses a sheet music series, exclusive online content, instructional videos, and live performances.

Call it a tribute series, a collective, a music lab…
or just call it VSQ.

We’re a group of music geeks, string players, performers, arrangers, producers and creatives.

We are VSQ.”

They cover almost every genre of geekdom possible by playing music from video games, tv shows, and films. The quality of music on their first album was already great yet somehow they were able to step it up a notch for this new album. Whether you are a new listener or old, everyone will be able to appreciate the vast amount of hard work put into this album. You can check out some of the songs on YouTube.

My personal favorite would have to be their cover of “To Zanarkand” from Final Fantasy X. I had so many wonderful experiences in elementary school playing that game that a flood of memories washes over me when I hit play. Their music is also available on major music platforms where ever music is sold and also on their website.

Although we might live in a day and age where we can enjoy music freely, it helps out quite a bit when you actually purchase the album so they can continue to pump out amazing works of art like this! Be sure to follow them on Facebook and check out their website!
