Ronda Rousey Is A Geek Like Us(Kind of)
Ronda Rousey is without a doubt one of the greatest athletes of our time(Yes, not mentioning that she was a woman was intentional.). With beating an opponent in a matter of 16 seconds, a fight so short that it could be made into a gif.
She has even been so confident in her abilities that she openly challenged infamous Championship Boxer Flloyd Mayweather to a fight. Anytime she is asked about her abundance of confidence she always responds that she worked hard her entire life for these moments and she deserves nothing short of victory because she is the greatest. Personally, I agree with her philosophy and so far it’s been all going exactly as she has planned.
But why are we talking about her? Because it turns out that she is a fellow geek! In a recent interview she has been asked about a rumor that she loves Pokemon, hear what she has to say on the subject:
That alone wins major geek points from me since I actually stopped catching them all at around Pearl. To hear that she has time to play Pokemon AND live the life of a champion means that I need to step my game up! It’s not just Pokemon that she enjoys however, during a workout session, someone brought up the subject of Dragon Ball Z and she responded with an over the top answer that you could tell took the interviewer by surprise.
It blows my mind to even fathom that both Ronda Rousey and I very well may have been watching Toonami back in the day at the same time and cheering everytime Vegeta was a badass. There is till even one more aspect of her life that further blew my mind and that was that she is an avid World of Warcraft player! Heck, here is the armory link to her character!
This woman is seriously tugging at my geek heart strings and has already become my favorite MMA fighter based on her interests and personality alone! If we had just stopped with her love for Pokemon then she would have already been my favorite but she goes well beyond that and even dresses up as her favorite childhood characters. I debated calling this cosplay because I feel as though dressing up for Halloween or a costume party is different than cosplaying. But eh! Who cares!
I never would have guessed that such a driven and talented person would have the time for some many awesome geeky activities! 😀 What do you think about all this?Â
