Are games worth breaking friendships for?
To begin, I want to warn you that this is both a personal post as well as an opinion article. An overview of this article is going over an example of a situation where a very long and very strong friendship was broken to pieces by a well known video game. We'll then get down to the nitty gritty and also the deeper questions about morals, loyalty, and other questions of intentions. If you have any stories of your own where your friendship was broken over a video game, table top RPG, etc,I'd love to hear them over in the comments!
What makes a guild great.
New to World of Warcraft or some other MMO? More than likely you've been noticing that many players belong 'Guilds' which are a group of players who have come together to work towards a common goal. Many are out there. Not all of them are good. Here are some pieces of advice from players just like you on what good, long term guilds they prefer.
So you want to run your own guild?
Tired of all the drama your guild produces, late raid times, rude guild mates who have friends in high places so they won't get kicked? Have you been playing around with the idea of branching off from your guild in favor of starting your own? I hear you. I've been there before as well and was completely overwhelmed by the result. To quote a guild mate: "I run guilds like I sex women: really badly and when it's all over I apologize and cry a lil bit."-Unheilig

My story was not too uncommon either. Many players found that Cataclysm had it's share of problems and found the game to no longer be enjoyable. Whether it came out too soon, made the game far too easy with Looking for Raid where players no longer had to work hard to get into a raid, rather they simply joined a queue and was thrown into the raid with various other players. This and various other changes had altered the game in a way that made it undesirable for those of us who knew how WoW used to be. Nevertheless, I played on. With my original character who was a Holy Paladin I leveled to max and desperately searched for a new guild, filled with active players who'd fill the community void I had for so long. In my search I actually came across an old high school buddy of mine who also played by the name of Paperwaster. At the time he was going through a rough break up and through the bond that is gaming, we grew closer.

a Rafflecopter giveaway Months had passed since months had passed since having my guild mates kill my friends. Since that time, not a single one of them had dared to touch me. Unfortunately, there had been a guild dispute which ended ugly, leaving the entire guild disbanded. [caption id="" align="alignleft" width="165"] Me searching for a guild[/caption] At the time I was devastated, the only guild I knew had broken up leaving me alone and defenseless in the wilds. Before my friends knew of my plight, I began searching for a new guild to join. Being a Holy Paladin, I was widely sought after. One for being a healer and two for being a paladin which were still somewhat uncommon on the Horde.
