The Fight To Save Constantine
Yesterday we were glad to report various TV shows getting green lit for a second season, unfortunately not all of them were as lucky. NBC officially announced that they have cancelled Constantine after only one season.
Even after production on the supernatural comic book adaptation was halted after 13 episodes, NBC always insisted hope could still be alive. But its ratings don’t make a hugely compelling case: Constantine averaged 4.5 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m., coming out of Grimm’s 6.3 million and 1.8 rating.
It’s been a rough rode for this anti-hero, while all other DC shows got placed on great nights and times, Constantine was placed in the death slot of Friday nights. Even I as a follower of geeky media never watched the show due to having little affection for the feature film. After all this struggle I am definitely going to be binge watching the series out of respect for their fight to save their show.
Despite being cancelled by NBC, Warner Brothers is searching for another network to partner up with. During this process, Arrow actor, Stephen Amell comes in to offer his awesome assistance.
If you only know Stephen Amell solely as an actor in Arrow then you need to check out his facebook page. From helping raise money to fight cancer to supporting his fellow DC comic shows, he is a saint. I highly recommend you check him out because it’s rare to find awesome human beings who have such a following. Although I want this show to succeed, a friend of mine admitted that he’d rather see the series cancelled rather than getting picked up by Syfy due to their handle with shows of late. Personally, I tend to agree with him, however there are plenty of other networks out there. They are not alone in this fight either, many fans are taking their voice to the interwebs to plead with networks, CW in particular, to take on the show and all of it’s viewers.
Even other stars have come out in support of Constantine.
