If you love gaming, you know how much it can cost to purchase the latest game. Yes, Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost $60, but we just have to have it. Whilst it may be necessary to splash out when it comes to the latest release (we get it, you’re going to anyway…) there are some games out there that you can play without handing over your credit card details, and checking them out is definitely worthwhile. You also don’t always need to have an Xbox or PlayStation to find the best games, so we’ve listed the top free, online games here, so that you can check them out.
Fortnite Battle Royale
Although Fortnite offers upgrades to premium, the Battle Royale game is free to play. Earlier this year the game took the world by storm, and it boasts around 78 million players a month. You can play with people from all over the world (with up to 100 people in each game) and you’re given a large map to cover. You have to kill members from the other team and avoid the storm, and the last man (or woman) standing wins. You also use the environment around you to create different things, like defences and bridges. The best way to understand how the game works is to play it for yourself, and if its reputation is anything to go off, then it’s worthwhile.
Dota 2
If Fortnite Battle Royale doesn’t tickle your fancy, then Dota 2 is another free online game that has a big following behind it. There are 100 heroes to choose from, so you can change roles each time you play, and everything you need to play is already provided as soon as you begin, so there is no need to splash out the cash. The aim is to defend your team’s base, and use the powers that the five heroes on your team have in order to defeat the five ‘heroes’ on the other side. Again, it has a great reputation behind it, so trying it out yourself is a good way to get a feel for the game.
Arcade games
There are sites out there that specialize in putting all of the best free online games together, and this will usually consist of games that are less drawn out than Fortnite and Dota. This includes things like bike racing and crazy birds; things that you’d probably enjoy playing if you weren’t looking to spend hours developing your team and taking them to battle against another team. All of these are also free, and they’re a good way to pass the time when you don’t have a lot of it to pass, and seeing them all on one site is a convenient way to choose what to play.
There are a variety of different free online games out there, from the likes of Fortnite Battle Royale, to Dota 2, to quick online arcade games. So decide what you’re interested in, and how much time you want to spend gaming, and get playing!
