Vote Bunnylord: NOT A HERO Review
Vote Bunnylord: NOT A HERO Review
If there is one thing I love, and hate, about games, it’s how the simplest parts always end up being the trickiest. I start out strong, but then die towards the end of the level. So I keep playing, over and over, but I keep dying at that same part. My frustration grows, and my “oh man” and “grrrr” turn into “what the heck!” and “arrrgggh!” Now, the easy parts, the parts I was able to soar through, turn difficult too. I’m making mistakes, having to start over again and again. I keep thinking, “One more try. If I can’t beat it with this character, I’ll try another.” But it keeps happening over and over.
This is how NOT A HERO plays.
“NOT A HERO” is about a mayoral candidate from the future named BunnyLord. He wants to get more votes to become mayor, so he needs help to destroy the criminal underworld of the city.
You choose from playing 9 different professional assassins. Each assassin brings something different to table. While they all have the same health amount, each have something special about them. For example, one assassin can reload faster, while another can reload and run in the same time. One can shoot both left and right, while another can slide around faster. One has 20 bullets and others have 2 bullets. Some use hand guns and some use shotguns. Each also has a different finishing move.
All assassins can slide to try to reach enemies and make them trip over, or to reach cover spots to protect them from gunfire. This ability is nice because I also use it to get around the stage faster. What is not nice about the sliding skill is that if you slide and not touch the enemy, they just blast you away.
Throughout the levels you can also find extra supplies, like grenades, land mines, and even a cat bomb. Yup, a cat bomb. You can also find and use different shells for your weapons, like fire bullets that light enemies on fire, or a laser that zaps your enemies to dust.
The music was amazing. The game featured some great fighting beats as I was blasting enemies away. The music went very well with the levels; it pumped me up for the fighting to come! When you’re in a bad part of town, in a meth lab apartment, about to take some gangster down and make their leader understand BunnyLord doesn’t play kindly with meth dealers, you can feel adrenaline running through you. However, if you don’t like the music at first, don’t worry…you’ll be re-listening to it from the beginning each time you die or restart a level, so you’ll eventually get used to it.
Now, I’m sure you’ve gotten the hint that this game is pretty hard. It certainly does have its challenging moments, like fighting ninjas. You just can’t win if you face them up close – they just swing once and you die. I literally spent 15 minutes just dying because I kept sliding to them.
The game is very fast paced, too. One moment you’re fighting one guy to get downstairs and next thing you know, you’re surrounded and getting shot from everywhere! The sooner you master sliding and hiding from enemy fire, the better and easier it’ll be for you. Getting through the game will be a journey, but it’s the challenges you’ll want to beat the most. Each of the 21 levels has 3 objectives to complete. You don’t have to do them, you can just beat the stage and move on. But I mean, don’t you want BunnyLord to get those extra votes?
I very much enjoyed the game, from the music to its game-play. The graphics looked great for a indie game and the blood…there was so much blood. If you have ever wanted to help a futuristic giant bunny become mayor by killing gangs and mob leaders, look no more! For BunnyLord needs you, he needs your help, but mostly, he needs your vote! Vote BunnyLord!
Tony AKA Powerforce is the master of playing Fox on Super Smash Bros, he loves him some JRPGs and can not get enough of indie games. Rumor has it that he is actually creating his own game! He is a solid guy in real life and will slit your throat in a table top RPG. Great guy! Loves dogs!
