Wacky VR Games You Haven’t Tried But Should

If you’ve got a VR headset and are among the ten million or so people worldwide who use it for gaming, then there’s a good chance that you’ve tried many of the more popular titles out there, like Elder Scrolls Skyrim VR. But with each passing month, dozens of new VR-enabled games hit the market that could pique your interest.

Take a look at the following VR games you haven’t tried but should.

Accounting+

The idea of a game based on the accounting profession might seem a little – how should we put it? – far-fetched. Accounting is a famously respectable profession says www.accountingtoday.com/news , which attracts people interested in being responsible, saving up for retirement, and helping firms file their taxes. What any of that could possibly have to do with a game is not clear.

However, the developers behind Accounting+ seem to relish the challenge: make a game that involves accounting, but that’s also fun for the average person who’s idea of entertainment isn’t poring over company balance sheets. The game begins in the office of an accountant and invites you to help complete a tax return. But before long, you’ve left the safety of your familiar surroundings and are engaging in all sorts of weird and wacky activities after work, such as playing a xylophone with bones. Always fun!

Red Matter

Red Matter is one of the scarier sci-fi titles to hit the VR world. The atmospheric puzzle-solving game is located on the distance Saturnian moon of Rhea, a tiny chunk of rock floating through the vastness of space, cut off from the rest of humanity.

You play as “Epsilon” and must work on a Russian base located on the moon. The game play is along the lines of what you might expect: there’s a lot of moving barrels around. You’ll also be treated to an engaging story, one in which you’ll discover your origins and get caught up in the world that the developers have created.

Vox Machinae
If you love the Mech Warrior series and find the idea of mechanized combat alluring, then you’ll love Vox Machinae. The game begins on the war ravaged surface of Earth. You sit in the cockpit of a giant mechanized warrior unit which a realistic visor in front of you and plenty of dials. When you look around, you can see things like your unit’s structural integrity and the location of friends and foes on your minimap. The gauges themselves are enough to make this game a must-try for people who have a VR headset.

What makes the game great through is the freedom of movement and combat. Using the controls, you’re able to walk, run, strafe and jump using your mech, and then fire your guns and cannons, enjoying the bullet trails they leave in their wake. It’s a graphically stunning game with plenty to commend it.

The Rig

The Rig is an unusual game, according to https://vrgal.net/, because it is a collaboration of several game developers who wouldn’t ordinarily work together on the same title. As you might expect from such an effort, the game has several unique characteristics which set it apart from many others on the market.

The Rig is a detective game set in the far future. You play as a Mars-based protagonist called Willard Pike looking for his brother Dixon on a mining rig, hence the name of the game. The Rig has plenty of action elements, but the main draw is the mystery of what happened to Dixon. At the end of the game, as you might imagine, you find out.

Distance

Distance is a something of a VR homage to Tron, an old 1980s game which chronicles the adventures of motor racers in a virtual world. Everything from the soundtrack to the graphics is designed to make you feel as if you’re in a remastered version of the original.

Distance has been in development for a long time, but it’s now available to play, even if there are still some elements that need to be finished.

The game is essentially a high-speed racing game where you zip around futuristic tracks at otherworldly speeds. Like many recent titles, you don’t just stick to the routes provided by the game: the developers also include a build mode where you can design and race of your own tracks solo or multiplayer online.

By far the standout feature of the game, though, has to be the soundtrack. If you like listening to epic techno music while you drive, then this is the game for you.

Rolling Line

Not everybody has the time, money, artistic skills, or inclination to build a real model railway in their shed. But in VR, anything is possible. Rolling Line is a game which allows players to simulate the construction of a model railway wherever they happen to be. You decide where to place the track, where to put individual trees, and which trains run on the line.

Just like a real model railway, building something that looks great on Rolling Line is a labor of love. But if you invest the time, the game will reward you with something that’s just as satisfying as the real thing.

Budget Cuts

Budget Cuts is a game all about a world in which robots have come to dominate. It’s set sometime in the future where robots mooch solemnly between office booths, sit at computers, and use other robots to make themselves.

You play as a robot on a mission to get to the bottom of what’s happened in the world. You kill robots that want to attack you, sleuth around office buildings looking for answers, and solving puzzles while hiding under desks.

The basic premise of the game is that people keep disappearing and that you need to get to the bottom of what’s going on. Robots are everywhere, but real flesh and blood is lacking. Why? Are the robots throwing everybody in the garbage compactor and taking control of the world for themselves?

For a game called Budget Cuts, it’s rather expensive, but worth a try if you want to experience something different.
