OSRS – Moneymaking Guide for Beginners

Those of you who are starting out in the wide world of Old School Runescape, there are probably a few things that you may find confusing. One feature could surround OSRS Gold, which is used as the currency in the game. You have the option to buy OSRS Gold and even sell OSRS Gold on the world wide web, but that won’t be our focus today. This guide will be looking into how we can earn money in the game itself as beginners.

One of your main objectives when it comes to making gold is to garner enough to make the most of the in-game market known as the Grand Exchange. This place allows you to buy and sell pretty much every item in Old School Runescape. To get money in-game, you can use Combat methods, gather resources or using production skills such as Smithing and Crafting. With that said, let’s take a look at what the best beginner methods are for making OSRS Gold.

Cows

Yes! that’s right, cows are one of the most popular early methods of moneymaking for new players. If you head up past Lumbridge, you will find a bunch of cows that you can begin to kill, once you have gotten to level 15 in each of your Melee combat skills.

So why are we killing cows? Apart from the fact that they are easy to kill, they also drop cowhides. These can be sold for 150gp each, and are a popular item because of how much they are used in the early stages of the game. It isn’t going to make you rich, but it’s a great place to start if you are a beginner.

Mining

Sticking with early-game methods, another great place to start is to mine Iron Ore. To get started, you will have to get your Mining skill up to level 15. Focus on this levelling, as you can earn more if your skill level is higher. Once you have yourself a pickaxe, you are ready to get started.

Your best bet is to keep improving on what pickaxe you wield. The best for new players can be gained at level 41, with the Rune pickaxe coming in very handy. Once you have the pickaxe of your choice, head over to mining spots that are located throughout. The best places to go include the southwest and southeast Varrock mines. If you have a higher mining skill, you could stand to earn up to 125k gp per hour!

Anti-Dragon Shields

Now that we have looked at some early game methods, let’s take a look at what methods can be used to earn you the most OSRS Gold if you are a beginner. If you are free-to-play user, then you will have to have completed all of the quests including Dragon Slayer to do this next method. After finishing these quests, you will be able to head to Edgeville and buy the Anti-Dragon Shield from Oziach.

Purchase the shields then head over to the bank. Depending in the prices at the Grand Exchange, you can make around 100k gp her hour, so keep an eye on what the prices are for maximum profit.

Dark Wizards

Moving on from cows, head over to Draynor Village. By heading south, you can kill Dark Wizards, which drop a number of valuable runes, as well as black robes. If you get your Ranged skill up to 20, you can take full advantage of your abilities and dispatch them even quicker.

Selling the robes will land you 2,000gp each, and they are a regular drop too. What’s more, if you are using the ranged method, you are training that particular skill at the same time, which can come in very handy throughout the game.

Wines of Zamorak

For this method, you will need the Telekinetic Grab spell, which can be cast once you hit Magic level 33. If you have managed to go beyond that, then the Falador teleport at Magic level 37 can really help this process. The tower near the Kingdom of Asgarnia is a place where if you have 500 total level, you can make some serious coin.

Going into the Chaos Temple with Zamorak monk top and bottoms, plus Law runes and a Staff of Air can set you on your way with this technique. On the upper level, you can use the Telekinetic Grab on the table where the Wine of Zamorak is. This might seem like it has a lot of preparation, but doing so you can make over 2,000 gold per hour. In an empty world, this skyrocket to over 250,000gp every hour.

Ultimately, there are a lot of ways that you can make OSRS Gold in this game. The best way to do so is to find the technique that suits you the most, and which you are willing to put the most time into. For now, you should have an idea of what a few of the basic methods are for you to earn gold in Old School Runescape, and you’ll be a Grand Exchange connoisseur in no time.
